Jack Cowens (known as JC at North London Drums) is an experienced and accomplished musical educator, teaching drums, percussion and music theory since 2010.
After studying a BMus in Popular Music Performance at London’s Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (The ICMP) and achieving Partial Qualified Teaching Status through the licentiate program (Level 6), JC has taught on behalf of the International Guitar Foundation, Rock School and the ICMP as well as North London Drums itself. He is experienced in both the Rockschool and Trinity syllabi, with several passes up to Grade 8. He has also led businesses and organisations using drum circles as team building exercises.
JC’s career to date has seen him work with the likes of Lily Allen, Bondax, Dub Pistols, Josh Barry, Joel Culpepper, Kate Stewart, Marina & The Diamonds, Desta French, Rodney P, Hope Tala and many others. His live experience has seen him touring extensively throughout the UK, Europe and the rest of the world, performing at some of the biggest and most respected music festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Snowbombing, Wireless Festival, V-Festival, Reading and Leeds, BoomTown Fair, Listen Out (Australia) and Electric Castle (Romania).
Jack’s studio credits include working with esteemed producers including Alex McGowan (Son of Dave, Martina Topley Bird, Stewart Copeland, Stephen Marley), Mark Anthony Tieku (thecocknbullkid, Little Boots, Clare McGuire), Kevin McPherson (Craig David, Peter Andre), John Mitchell (You Me At Six, Architects, Enter Shikari) and Nick Trepka and SaintSaviour (of Groove Armada) at the famous Fortress Studios in London, as well as recording sessions at the world renowned Metropolis Studios in Chiswick, London. He has also recorded with producers Bill Borez, Jason O’Bryan, Will Hensal and Barry Ashworth on several Dub Pistols albums, with the latest “Crazy Diamonds” reaching number 38 in the UK album charts.

As well as his BMus, JC also holds a Rockschool LRSL Music Teaching Diploma (Level 6) as well as a Musician’s Union certificate for Child Protection.
